PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL — The sheriff’s office has a new weapon in the fight against gang graffiti, which is a growing problem here in Palm Beach County.
The first move is to compile information about the suspected taggers from other law enforcement units.
“I’m taking those leads and trying to make people accountable for their actions and to clean-up the community,” said Roussel.
PBSO uses a special truck to clean-up the graffiti.
Detective Roussel says it’s a problem throughout Palm Beach County.
“I forward it on to the graffiti cleaning unit,” said Roussel. “We eradicate the graffiti and make it a place where people won’t be offended to live and work.”
Parts of fences can be seen painted over, where the graffiti once was on display in this neighborhood.
They’re signs that this has been on ongoing battle which many residents hope to win.
“In the last three weeks, there’s been an increase in the activity,” said Lindsey. “PBSO has absolutely stepped-up ot meet that challenge and we’re glad to see it.”
The new gang graffiti investigator says he’s also working with the state attorney’s office in efforts to stiffen penalties for repeat offenders.
