The Salvation Army in Inala aims to guide local graffiti artists into the graphic arts industry as part of an ambitious project to tackle graffiti and youth unemployment.
The charity’s network agency Employment Plus has teamed up with the Inala branch to deliver the project for graffiti artists in Inala, Richlands, Durack, Oxley and Darra.
Project mastermind and Inala’s Salvation Army Captain Peter Maynard urged more graffiti artists to take part in the project.
He said the program would start in May and presently had two participants.
“The aim of the project is to get people who are graffiti artists to paint a mural at our Salvation Army hall to help build up a work portfolio,” Mr Maynard said.
“We want to help get them off the streets and into the graphic arts industry.”
